STUDENTS at Stockton Sixth Form College are starting their new term in style after a PS250,000 refurbishment to their common room and dining area.

Both new and returning students will benefit from an overhaul to the existing social space, which now has a light and spacious eating area, modern communal environment and breakout spaces which can be used for revision or quiet study.

Live news, college notices and RSS feeds will be fed into the social area through 55-inch flat screen TVs, and the space will continue to have full wi-fi connectivity.

The renovation follows on from the college's PS4.5m overhaul of teaching and support facilities.

This includes a new learning resource centre, state-of-the-art science laboratories, a contemporary art and design studio, media and film facilities and new areas for pastoral care and careers guidance.

Robyn Highfield, 16, a first year A-level student, said the areas had vastly improved since she visited before the summer. …
