TIME is nearly up to view the Lindisfarne Gospels at their intended resting place.

For the past two months the exhibition focusing on the impressive manuscript has been the hottest ticket in town with almost 90,000 people making the pilgrimage to Durham's Palace Green to catch a glimpse of the historic document.

With 19 days to go until the artefact leaves home turf and heads back to London and the British Library, exhibition organisers are urging people to bag a ticket while they still can and see the Gospels alongside personal possessions of St Cuthbert for the first time in 500 years.

Dr Keith Bartlett, programme director with Lindisfarne Gospels Durham, said: "Tens of thousands of people have already enjoyed a visit to the exhibition and as the closing date nears I would advise anyone who has been waiting to get their tickets not to delay any longer, or they may just miss out.

"To accommodate audiences, the exhibition is open from 10am to 10pm, seven days per week and the daytime sessions in particular have been extremely popular, selling out many days in advance. …
