Gotta Hand It to Us! College Wins Anti-Bullying Award ... for Second Time

A TEESSIDE college has become the first in the UK to win an anti-bullying award for the second time.

Middlesbrough College was the first UK further education college to receive an award from the Bullying Intervention Group last year.

And this week it became the first college in the UK to receive the BIG Award for the second time.

Award organisers said the college is "leading the way in anti-bullying reduction in further education colleges".

Suze Clarke, student liaison co-ordinator, said: "We are thrilled to have achieved the BIG Award for a second year and aim to keep on developing the support that we have in place. Unfortunately bullying can take place anywhere at any time, so we work hard to promote a culture of respect."

The Bullying Intervention Group is a social enterprise, created to administer the BIG Award for schools, colleges and services for young people.

Middlesbrough College had to meet a range of criteria, including making sure that all students are able to achieve their potential without fear of being bullied. …
