Riotous Yandina Party; Teens Defy LNP's New Facebook Laws

UP TO 20 Sunshine Coast police officers and the dog squad had to be called to diffuse an out-of-control Facebook party at Yandina on Friday night.

More than 200 teenagers, aged 13 to 20, filled the Stevens St home, from the street through to the backyard.

Police were notified of a disturbance when a neighbour called 000 after hearing loud music and a large contingent of "young drunk people".

Officers called for back-up immediately after arriving about 9.30pm.

In attempts to move party-goes on, a 16-year-old girl was arrested for "scratching" two police officers - a male and female - on the arm.

She was charged with obstructing police, resisting arrest and assaulting police.

Nambour Police officer in charge Gary Brayley said the father of the organiser was unaware of the party.

"It seems they had been left at home alone and organised the party via Facebook without the knowledge of the parent," Snr Sgt Brayley said. …
