Lamentations is a beautiful album, you must be so proud...

Yes, I am. It's been a long time coming. Actually this is the first body of work that I've recorded that I've been quite happy to put out there.

Tell us about the process of putting it together...

The whole process took about a year. I went to Japan to write half of the album with Aaron Choulai, a pianist who is based over there. And did a lot of pre-production on the Sydney south coast as well. It was a long process but I'm glad we took the time because the last few recordings I've done have been quite rushed and I haven't been quite happy with them. The album was a real collaboration between Tim Curnick and Aaron.

There is some interesting instrumentation on the album, particularly on Count To Ten, can you tell me a bit about it. …
