PERFORMANCE artist and vocalist Christine Johnston (co-creator of The Kransky Sisters) has been collecting old toys and retro night-lights for a very long time.

Now they are all in a show called FLUFF, and before heading to New York, they're coming to the Sunshine Coast Council's Lake Kawana Community Centre.

Christine tells how it all began:

"A little face smiled at me from the $1 bargain-bin at Lifeline. A simple fabric body with big button eyes sewn on to the odd-shaped head, its stitched-on smile beaming up at me.

"I guessed it was a bear and I was immediately captivated by what looked like an expression of constant joy and hope radiating from this little homemade piece of unexpected haberdashery.

"If this had started out to be a ho-hum day then it certainly was no more! I couldn't help but wonder whose caring hands had sewn such a love-bubble teddy; a gift for someone special. And how was it that such a gem had ended up in the bargain bin? …
