Get Set for a Festival of Culture; the Diverse Days of Ukraine in the UK Will Showcase the Country's Vibrant Contemporary Art, Literature, Music and Fashion
This month, Londoners will be treated to a threeday cultural festival celebrating Ukraine. Days of Ukraine in the UK will run from 17-19 October and promises to be a vibrant exposition of the art, fashion, music and culture of this dynamic nation.
Giving Londoners a chance to experience the best of Ukraine's rich heritage and exciting contemporary culture, the aim of the festival is to bring Ukraine closer to Britain. Lada Firtash, who is the founder of The Firtash Foundation, the festival organiser, explains, "We specifically chose a keyhole as the logo for the festival as it represents what we want to achieve. We hope the festival will help people to understand the modern Ukraine, with its huge potential, as well as our centuriesold traditions.' Indeed, our countries share much - an intricate tapestry of history; a pulsing, revolutionary fashion scene; a cultural pride in creativity and entrepreneurial spirit; a reputation for scholarly and intellectual endeavours; a cuisine enriched by myriad influences; and commercial prowess in global markets.
The diverse programme of events includes literature readings, an exhibition of Ukrainian art, a fashion show by leading Ukrainian designers; and culminates in the Ukrainian concert and fair on Potter's Field Park. Here there is plenty of opportunity for hands-on fun for all the family - with traditional crafts and authentic cookery, rousing music and dancing, and the ambience of a Ukrainian country village fair. …
