HARASSED by everyday life? If so, a Teesside college is urging people to take the weight off their feet and treat themselves to a little pampering after launching its new hair and beauty salon.

The Mosaic salon at Redcar and Cleveland College was unveiled to the public on Wednesday, with students holding demonstrations, giving tours of the salon and offering a 50% discounted rate for bookings made at the event.

Mosaic will offer full pamper packages for men and women, including massage, spa facial, nonsurgical face and body lifts and Microdermabrasion treatments, as well as a comprehensive range in the hair salon. And new to the beauty therapy salon is a special Bride and Groom package, which offers couples all the pampering they need before the big day.

The hair and beauty salons are open to the public all year round during college hours and offer customers professional treatments, using quality products. The reduced prices include a cut and blow dry with a senior stylist for PS8.50, highlights with a senior stylist from PS11, PS8 for a luxury pedicure, PS10 for an 'indulgent' facial and a manciure from PS6.50.

Delia Leadbitter, head of school for hairdressing and beauty therapy, said the new-look salons were very much open to the community and she hoped local people would take advantage.

She said: "At Redcar & Cleveland College, we have always prided ourselves in the excellent hair and beauty services we have provided to our customers, with many of our clients coming back time and time again. We are thrilled to be unveiling Mosaic and look to welcome new customers into the salon, as well as our friends who have been coming to us for a long time.

"Our students are professional and talented, with many going on to work in top end spas and salons, such as Rockliffe Hall, so members of the community can come to us in the knowledge that we provide a first rate service.

"We know that for many, times are hard at the moment and a lot of people don't feel comfortable spending a great deal of money on themselves. …
