THIRTEEN in a row and a baby in tow - but do not think Cassie Hughes is done on the hockey turf yet.

The 28-year-old is still celebrating after helping Glee claim a remarkable 13th consecutive Far North Coast A-grade women's hockey major premiership.

Striker Hughes had played in the previous 12 triumphs, but looked set to miss out this year after giving birth to first child Maggie shortly after the season started in May.

Still craving the sport, she returned to the club for the successful end to the season - and is already eyeing another strong 2014.

"I will be on the paddock next year, whether it's 14 or not," she said.

"You miss it when you don't play - you really do.

"These girls are a big part of my life, I have played with them and been coached by Rhonda (Mathers) for a long time.

"I will be there next year."

It was a close battle in the grand final at the Goonellabah turf last Saturday, with Glee taking a hard-fought 3-2 winover Ballina. …
