YOUNG golfer Jay Watling wants to be a professional just like American star Rickie Fowler, and he's making a good fist of it.

Aged just 11, the red-headed Watling hit a hole-in-one on the sixth hole at Mackay Golf Club last week in the Mackay Junior Open, dressed in the same orange colours Fowler wears for his final rounds.

"I just like him because he's really awesome," Watling said before playing in the Mackay Junior Pro-Am yesterday with visiting professionals who will be on show in the M Group City of Mackay Open this weekend.

"I wear orange because every final round he (Fowler) plays, he wears orange.

"That was what I was wearing when I got my hole-in-one.

"It suits my hair," he said of his carrot-top.

"I've always wanted to be a pro, one day I hope to be one."

On the final day of a golf tournament Fowler wears orange in honour of Oklahoma State University.

Fowler is one of four golfers in the a[approximately]Golf Boys' group along with fellow PGA Tour players Ben Crane, Bubba Watson and Hunter Mahan. …
