AEROPLANE and flying enthusiasts flew in from all parts of the country for the annual Wings over Warwick event on Saturday.

Carl Boulton and Val Woods flew up from Grafton in their RV7.

"It's the third time we've been to the event," Mr Boulton said.

"Everyone is just so friendly."

Another light aircraft owner Brian Hunter has flown to the event from the Gold Coast for the past 30 years.

"We just come up for the day," he said.

"It's a great unlicensed strip with no landing fees and there is always great weather."

Queensland Recreational Aircraft Association president and chief flying instructor Kelvin Hutchinson said the day was about opening the local aerodrome up to the community.

"It's such a great facility out here," Mr Hutchinson said.

"We get around 800-1000 people come and have a look each year.

"There's nearly 80 aircraft here for people to look at and a great variety of different kinds," he said. …
