WITHOUT Alyssa Shaw we wouldn't have a Rockhampton Base Hospital or a Centrelink in Yeppoon

Well, not quite, but the talented estimator did play a leading hand in their construction.

Alyssa collected the Women in Building Award at the Queensland Master Builder 2013 Housing and Construction Central Queensland Awards earlier this month.

She will now go into the running for Queensland's top woman in building title.

Alyssa, the hospital, Centrelink, the Banana Shire Council administration building and art gallery and the brand new-looking Duaringa Hotel all earned JM Kelly Group awards at the ceremony.

Armed with a Diploma in Project Management, Alyssa's work as an estimator over the past three years earned her the nomination.

While she doubles as a fashion model in her spare time, in her day job -- in its simplest form -- Alyssa measures and quotes the prices to complete construction projects and then delivers them to clients. …
