Business Leaves Town; Bricos Departs Yandina for Melbourne

A YANDINA business which has employed and trained more than 80 people over the past 15 years will relocate to Melbourne at the end of the month.

Soft window furnishing company The Bricos Group was established by Brian and Diane Symons in 1971 and traded in Gosford, NSW, for 28 years before relocating to Yandina in 1999.

The couple sold the business to their children, Jenni Bippus and David Symons, in 2004. In 2011 they sold it to a multi-national company.

Mr Symons, the former managing director, said the company was relocating to Melbourne because it provided a better distribution point.

"It is sad that quite a few of the staff will now be seeking new positions, but I know that each one of them would be a wonderful asset to any future employer," he said.

Several of the company's executive staff were expected to remain with the new owners.

Mr Symons said that during its 42-year history, Bricos had sold more than 20 million square metres of window furnishings. …
