JAY Alcorn and Lisa Buddery's wedding was two-and-a-half years in the planning.

The couple exchanged wedding vows on Easter Saturday, March 30, in St Paul's Uniting Church.

Mrs Alcorn said they chose the date because it fell on a long weekend.

"Many of our guests were from England and Scotland," she said.

From England herself, Mrs Alcorn incorporated her former home into the wedding.

"The reception had an English country cottage theme," she explained.

"There were lots of flowers, mainly roses, and lace."

Mr and Mrs Alcorn live in Moranbah, but decided to have their wedding in Mackay.

"We both have family in Mackay, so it was a central point," Mrs Alcorn said.

Dressed in a satin gown with a lace overlay, Mrs Alcorn walked down the aisle to Songbird, by Eva Cassidy.

Instead of a traditional floral bouquet she had a bouquet of brooches.

Mrs Alcorn's something old and borrowed were her mother's pearls, something blue was found in her bouquet and something new was her gown. …
