Cordingley's Worlds Merge; Performer Says Music Is What She Is Made to Do

ASHLEIGH Cordingley is caught between two worlds.

The world of a nine to five job and her love of performing live on stage.

At the moment the 20-year-old works during the week and on weekends performs at venues across the region.

Cordingley said it was hard to pick which world she wants.

"I want to leave and travel around and play," she said.

"If I get to a stage in my life where I can play festivals and still pay my bills and buy a birthday present for mum, I will be happy."

Last month Cordingley was one of the Mackay acts to perform at River Sessions.

"River Sessions was really exciting. I got up there and was so nervous, I got up there and it was so comfortable, I loved it," she said.

"Being on stage playing my own music is what I was made to do."

Cordingley was born in Zimbabwe, moved to New Zealand when she was 10 and Mackay when she was 12.

After moving to Australia music and songwriting became her passions. …
