Warwick Turn on Style in President's Cup Win

HOCKEY: Warwick captain coach Steve Farrell was high in praise of each team member in his side's 10-0 win against Rangeville in the Toowoomba Over-35s President's Cup final.

The Warwick side is unbeaten after 13 games and featured in the President's Cup which involves the two leading teams mid-season.

"We played well as a team after bringing in a new playing system in the week before," Farrell said.

"It is one we used in veterans hockey in Canberra. The new system changes how we attack and it worked extremely well in the cup final.

"These players are skilful and learnt the system in the second half of our game a fortnight ago against Past High.

"There was good talk in the team which helped with our defensive formations. Our goalkeepers Tony Duncan and Allan Balfour played half a game each in the cup final."

Duncan is co-captain and coach for the Queensland Over-45s side for this year's nationals from September 21 to October 5 at the Olympic fields at Homebush, Sydney. …
