Locals Drive Victory; Gladstone Karters Pick Up Honours in Six of 10 Classes

ROUND one of the Central Queensland Karting series rolled into town last weekend, treating Gladstone drivers well on their home track.

Locals claimed the honours in six of the 10 classes that were contested, ensuring the host round was a success for the Gladstone Kart Club.

Josh Butler took control of the cadets class, winning all races in the category on his way to a clear win.

Jack Bussey also halted the progress of his competitors, dominating the JNH class and never looking in doubt at any point across the weekend.

"That is not unusual, the locals have a good knowledge of their local track and it can be difficult for people who haven't seen it," Gladstone Kart Club's David Bennett said.

"It was very good, we had nearly 100 competitors; we usually get 45 or 50 for local races."

The round welcomed back Gladstone club's Ken Prichard, Sam Battye and Travis Martin, a big lift with two of the three finishing top of their class and Martin in second in the Tag 125 Heavy races. …
