Art gallery opening

GARY Myers' Buderim Art Gallery will officially open at 6.30pm by councillor Jenny McKay. Sydney-based Australian artist Max Mannix will be the guest artist. Local contemporary artist Shevaun Carey will be showcasing her new works along with artist Gary Myers. Gary has lived on the Coast for the past 23 years and is renowned for his colourful and sometimes humorous interpretation of the Australian landscape.

Film screening

CATRIONA McKenzie's directorial feature debut with Satellite Boy is a heartfelt, moving and uplifting story about a young boy's journey to save his home and ultimately himself. Fable-like in its storytelling, the film shows a world torn between old and new, tradition and progress, nature and technology. Celebrating the importance of family, true friendship and cultural and spiritual identity, the film is captivating.

Satellite Boy is screening at Nambour Arthouse Cinema today at 4pm and 7.30pm. Tomorrow at 7.30pm and Sunday at 4.30pm.



Woodcrafters Expo

THE Blackall Range Woodcrafters Guild will hold an expo and competition this weekend. There will be wood turning demonstrations and an extensive range of items on sale made by the members from local timbers.

Altiyan Childs live concert

SINCE taking the 2010 title of the Australian X Factor, 2011 ARIA award-winner Altiyan Childs has recently been in the studio recording his long anticipated album Born Before the Sun. Altiyan will be performing for one night only on the Sunshine Coast so don't miss this opportunity. Accompanying Altiyan will be band members Danul Stewart on guitar/vocals, Dan Rivers on keys/vocals, Jason Norris on bass/vocals, Michael Begand on drums and DJ Moto on decks.

Family fun day

COME along to the first family fun day at Katie Rose Hospice. There will be entertainment, food, raffles and market stalls selling vintage clothing, books, plants, and children's clothing. A sausage sizzle and devonshire teas will be available as well as a cake and jam stall along with a heat pack and beauty stalls. Kids will be entertained with a jumping castle, face painting, balloon modelling and a fairy floss stall. The Buderim Concert Band will entertain the crowds.
