Eisteddfod Nearing; Band of Volunteers Ready to Raise Curtain on Dynamic Week

AN EXCITED Thelma Reisenleiter is having trouble keeping a lid on her enthusiasm ahead of this year's Gympie and District Eisteddfod.

"The countdown is definitely on," the president of the Gympie and District Eisteddfod Association said.

"It feels a bit like the night before Christmas at the moment. We are just so keen."

This year's eisteddfod begins on Sunday from 9am with a bumper program of three sessions to raise the curtain on opening day.

The first day will see three carefully selected adjudicators warmly embrace this year's talent. They are Thomas Keenan, Beverley Wood and Daniel Calder.

Mrs Reisenleiter spoke highly of the three.

"They have so much expertise between them," she said.

"We are so lucky this year because they are young, vibrant and qualified.

"The participants stand to gain so much from their insights and knowledge this year."

Mr Calder will be adjudicator for instrumental and piano, drawing on a bank of knowledge from his own expertise in piano. …
