MORE favoured swimmers were completely overwhelmed at the mid-winter carnival in Lismore last weekend.

Grafton, not the only club to suffer this fate, was well represented by Bob Owen, who managed to reach the semi finals of the 25 and 50m freestyle.

Grafton's only other success was a second place in the 4 x 25m medley relay. Swimming only .47 off their nominated time, the team was unlucky not to take the win, which was taken out by Lismore.

A complete form reversal of those swimmers who had competed in Lismore was experienced on Tuesday, with at least three members recording great times in their finals.

First cab off the rank was the 25m final and lining up were Bob Owen, Damien O'Mahony, Richard (Scooter) Sear and Ian Goodman. O'Mahony and Goodman lead the field with a powerhouse performance, only to be disqualified. Searsy, displaying all the cunning necessary to win a race, was awarded first place with Owen a close second. …
