No Run-of-the-Mill Night; Gym Enthusiasts Hit the Machines in 24-Hour Fundraiser for Mental Health Charity

AS THE sun came up over the Sunshine Coast yesterday, all Christie Turner could think about was getting some sleep.

The 21-year-old hadn't been up partying all night - she was part of a hardy crew who did an all-nighter on the treadmills for charity.

Local celebrities and members of the community combined to run for 24 hours in support of youth mental health charity Headspace Maroochydore.

They gathered at Jetts Mooloolaba and Nambour gyms at 10am Saturday and by yesterday morning they couldn't wait to stop.

"I'm exhausted, everyone's exhausted, they've all done really well," Ms Turner said after running 15km in two stints.

But she said the task was made easier by the fact Headspace was such a worthy cause.

"They cover so many different aspects with mental health, even if you need doctor's appointments, or if kids are having trouble with exams," she said.

"It gives them a lot of exposure.

"People know if they are feeling down they can go to people and it's not a bad thing. …
