Flood Aid Cut-Off Is Extended

ISIS Canegrowers chairman Joe Russo is one of many farmers across the region who have found the flood recovery funds on offer a help to get things back on track.

Mr Russo was out on his Childers area farm yesterday doing laser levelling work to restore his paddocks to their pre-flood condition.

But many farmers in the Bundaberg region have been unable to get contractors out to their farms in time to apply for funding under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).

"A lot of the equipment needed to do the repair work is in high demand and it takes time to get them out to your farm," Mr Russo said.

The cut-off date for farmers, businesses and not-for-profit organisations affected by flooding earlier this year to apply for natural disaster assistance was August 30.

But because of the difficulty farmers are having organising their repair work it has been extended to November 29. …
