FOR 12 months, all Courtenay Vivian knew were the four walls of her Brisbane hospital room.

The now 15-year-old had a two-and-a-half year battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, which affects the blood and bone marrow.

Diagnosed in 2009, Courtenay had chemotherapy. She went into remission, but relapsed in August 2011.

Her family - mother Angela, father Doug and sister Bianca - relocated from Sippy Downs to Brisbane to help Courtenay through a bone marrow transplant and ongoing treatments after a life-threatening fungal infection from the surgery.

Mrs Vivian said it was heartbreaking to see her daughter go through the harrowing experience.

They were delighted to be given the all-clear to come home in August last year and their lives were further brightened by the kindness of the man known as the Sunshine Coast's Secret Santa.

He gave a Noosa weekend package to the Vivian family through the Wishlist Foundation. …
