Poyet Insists Cats Must Build on Derby Victory

SUNDERLAND'S derby win may have brought a feelgood factor to Wearside, but Gus Poyet insists it will count for little if it turns out to be a one-off.

Sunday's 2-1 win against arch-rivals Newcastle ended Sunderland's two month wait for a league victory.

It means they now have four points from nine games which was enough to lift them off the foot of the table.

But head coach Poyet says his team must build on that result, if they are to continue their climb away from danger.

"It has to be a turning point," said Poyet, whose side travels to Hull City this weekend.

"We could not wait forever for a win.

"I don't know what [Poyet's predecessor] Paolo Di Canio was thinking about the situation in the first five games or [caretaker boss] Kevin Ball in the two he was in charge, but there is a point where you have to start winning - you cannot go on forever with one point. …
