WHEN Bundaberg's John Learmonth sails up to the start line in Guilty Pleasures V during Airlie Beach Race Week he knows line honours are out of the question but the veteran sailor wasn't concerned at all.

Compared to the muddy waters of the Burnett River, the Whitsunday Passage must seem like a dream to Learmonth as he and his crew race against some of the fastest yachts in the country.

And with the Airlie Beach event a lead-up to a regatta at Hamilton Island which Learmonth admitted his boat wasn't big enough for, he said a few good finishes at the start of the week had been fantastic.

"We are racing in the sports boat class which is really for the rich boys," Learmonth said.

"We have been racing Australian champion boats and with a first, second and third early in the week we have been keeping them honest. …
