Rivalry Fires Up TRL Clash

FORMER Valleys forwards Xavier Manley and Kim Phoenix could find themselves trying to put dents in the middle of the Roosters defence when they run out for Wattles in tonight's Hutchinson Builders TRL Premiership elimination semi-final at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

Wattles prop Pat Manley is recovering after being taken from the field early in last Sunday's semi-final loss to Gatton but will not play, so Warriors coach Luke Duggan needs to find a new front-rower for the knock-out match against Valleys.

Duggan said Xavier Manley is likely to start in place of his brother and that Phoenix, who has been playing out wider in the second-row, could find himself packing into the front-row of the scrum against the club where he won a record seven-straight TRL titles.

"Probably Beaver Manley will start. He and Kim Phoenix," Duggan said.

"We've been using him (Phoenix) on the edge but this week we'll use him in the middle. …
