SUNDERLAND'S Stadium of Light hosted the fourth annual Durham and Cleveland Lawn Tennis Association Awards.

More than 300 people turned up for the evening in the Banqueting Suite, which was hosted by Tennis Development Manager for the North East and Cumbria Joanna Cunliffe.

It started by recognising those teams who had won their respective Winter Leagues in 2012-2013 and also the Summer League and Aegon Team Tennis 2013.

The Association's team which triumphed at the Durham and Cleveland Closed Championships in August was also honoured.

Mohamed Abdel-Aziz and Lois Page were presented with the Playsport Award.

The Oliver Wrightson Award was shared by Sam Archer amd Farah Adbel-Aziz.

The Harry Thomas Meritorious Award was won by Gordon Clough.

Primary School of the Year was St Bernadette's with New Silksworth runners-up.

Secondary School of the Year honours went to Yarm's Conyers School.

Mini-Team of the Year was the Eldon Grove green team, Junior Team of the Year the Virgin Active Wearside Under-16 boys squad. …
