We Don't Have Terror Fugitive's Passport. I Got It Wrong, Says May

HOME Secretary Theresa May today admitted that police do not have the passport of terror suspect Mohammed Ahmed Mohamed despite her reassuring Parliament that they did.

The startling revelation raised fresh questions over whether Mohamed may have fled the country after disguising himself in a burkha at a mosque.

Ms May had told Keith Vaz, chairman of the Commons Home Affairs committee, that police did have the passport of Mohamed, who is suspected of links to Somali terror group al-Shabab.

But she has now admitted she was wrong and has corrected her answer in the official record of Parliament, Hansard, to say: "Mohamed was not in possession of his British passport when he returned to the UK so there was no passport for the police to seize."

Mr Vaz today demanded Ms May apologise in writing to Parliament for the passport mistake as police and MI5 searched for Mohamed, who was tagged under a terrorism prevention and investigation measure (Tpim). …
