Pardew Dedicates Victory to the Fans; Pardew: Victory Was for the Fans

ALAN PARDEW dedicated Newcastle United's away win at Tottenham to the travelling Toon Army.

Several supporters buses set off at 5am yesterday morning while fans scrambled to the capital on the first train out of Tyneside at 6.55am, with the delayed East Coast service getting them to London just over an hour before the kick-off.

Pardew said after the win: "We rewarded them.

"All the guys who got up early and were on 6.30am trains from Newcastle.

"It was a tough old day to get here.

"But they supported us as they always do - brilliantly - so it was great reward for them."

Pardew appeared to try to deflect some of the PR own goals that have come the way of United of late too. He said: "I am the manager of the football team. "I am just trying to get performances that are worthy of our fans.

"I think we have the best fans in the world.

"We have two home games coming up and we FROM BACK PAGE have got ourselves in a fantastic position. …
