UNBELIEVABLE, Jeff. Sky Sports are at it again.

The Ashes begin next week, our summer sport.

In November. Starting around midnight. I mean, come on.

Hasn't the satellite broadcaster messed about with the sporting diary enough already? I have had to take the week off just to watch it.

Seriously, though, what about all those - you - Newcastle United supporters who have had to sacri-fice holidays, get up at the crack of dawn and home at the dead of night and in between time plane, train and automobile it to the far end of the country to catch a rescheduled kick-off? What time were you up on Sunday? I had to set the alarm clock early just to make the Monkey Arms (don't tell the Turks) and it was still chockablock when I got there.

Well, I do not blame Sky but the clubs for taking their money.

Now I have the full package and I love it.

What man does not get a reckless, adrenaline-pumped thrill from going toe to toe with the planner? I once got down to 3%. Then bottled it and started deleting.

Only my lass' Geordie Shore, mind.

Every multi-watched episode of Louie stayed right on there.

So yes, it is great. Choice and control.

It is great what all that subscription money has done for sport in this country too.

I even like the rugby (do not understand it like).

Look at the Premier League. OK, it is outrageously, universally overhyped.

I don't think it quite attracts the top, top stars it likes to think it does any more.

Who, right now, are the best players in the world, and where are they plying their trade? Lionel Messi and Andreas Iniesta, Cristiano Ronaldo and the Welsh boy who looks like a monkey? They love it in Spain.

What happened to English clubs' recent stranglehold on the Champions League? …
