KICK-OFF for the 2014 Tooheys New Group 2 season is still five months away but the release of the draft fixture has already created plenty of discussion - for all the right reasons.

The inclusion of two new teams from Grafton next season and the omission of 2012 premiers Macleay Valley mean the geographical balance of the competition has changed.

The first point of interest is that the executive has again decided a round should be played over the Easter weekend.

With one more team in the Group in 2014 compared with the season just completed, additional rounds are required.

At this stage it is still a draft fixture, with clubs able to ask for changes, but the general feedback about the draw so far has been positive.

Steve Gooley, president of premiers Coffs Harbour (who have their first official training session tonight), was first to offer thumbs-up, and the Comets have already booked three trials in anticipation of no changes. …
