Four Launch Collection; Women Keep Fashion History Alive with Melbourne Cup

FOUR women with a passion for fashion will launch their The Way We Wore collection on Melbourne Cup Day.

Kathy Smith, Brenda Howe, Chris Lynch and Jillian Harding have teamed up to organise the event, which will include a fashion parade with outfits from the collection modelled on the day.

Vines at 139 will be the venue, and given the close proximity to Legacy House, proceeds from the event will be donated to Grafton Legacy.

"It's a nice thing to do for the community," Brenda said.

Kathy said it was the perfect opportunity to put the collection on display.

"We had this collection for many years," Kathy said.

The committee of The Friends of the Way We Wore was recently established, and intends to store, collect and preserve women's clothing relating to the history, heritage and culture of Australian women.

"One of the models on the day, Kim McClymont, will be wearing her great-aunt's dress," Kathy said. …
