FASHION stylist to the stars Jo Ferguson has a simple message to women who want to be noticed for all the right reasons on Melbourne Cup - don't flash too much flesh.

The former fashion director of Cleo Magazine and Woman's Day has a celebrity list that includes Rihanna, Katy Perry, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Hawkins, Kristie Hinze, Sarah Murdoch and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas.

She told The Queensland Times that Melbourne Cup Day was all about elegance, simplicity, bright floral colours or bold prints - whether you are at Flemington or Bundamba.

"Let the dress be the hero," she said for her advice for women, warning against going over the top with big hats that were a[approximately]hard to navigate' and could be a hazard to other guests in a marquee!

Jo, who won an around the world trip and a diamond watch as a 25-year-old at Randwick, said Melbourne Cup was about dressing elegantly - and comfortably.

"There is nothing worse than revealing too much skin," she said, advising that if women were showing off their legs, they shouldn't be showing off their cleavage as well. …
