STAR TURN: Steve Glasson (BCIB Sydney Lions) and Kelvin Kerkow (Brisbane Gold) are two of the big names to be involved in the new APL.

BOWLS is alive. After three years in the making, the $100,000 Australian Premier League featuring the best of the best starts Tuesday next week with live TV coverage over four nights on Foxsports2.

The innovative event, which is set to become an annual fixture on the Bowls Australia calendar, features six franchised teams from across the nation as well as a New Zealand contingent in a city-versus-city showdown.

National champions Steve Glasson and Kelvin Kerkow lead two of the rival teams in the APL with Glasson headlining the BCIB Sydney Lions along with teammates world champions Karen Murphy and Aron Sherriff, and Gary Willis as coach.

Kerkow headlines the three-man team for the Brisbane XXXX Gold alongside world champion Mark Casey and Robert Wild, with Alex Murtagh as coach. World champion Brett Wilkie from Helensvale has been picked up by the WA franchise and headlines the Solargain Perth Suns. …
