Coaching Gig for Hannay in Q-Cup

RUGBY LEAGUE: Moranbah legend Josh Hannay's footy career just keeps on giving - the Moranbah Bulldogs coach stepping into the top job at Intrust Super Cup club Souths Logan Magpies.

Hannay, who enjoyed a lengthy career as a North Queensland Cowboy and Queensland State of Origin player before returning to Moranbah, is set to join the club next week.

Magpies chief executive Jim McClelland said Hannay's services were somewhat offered to the club, contrary to the usual process.

"Just by chance, I was at a QRL CEO meeting and Marco Peters was there," he said.

"I mentioned to Marco that we were probably about to lose our coach, and he called me up a few days later and said a[approximately]mate, I might have a coach here for you'.

"There were a couple of applicants that we looked at but on recommendations and the couple of interviews we had with Josh, we went ahead and gave him the job."

McClelland said the opportunity the Magpies had given Hannay was similar to the opportunity it gave players in terms of showcasing his NRL potential. …
