STEVE Gibson has today praised Boro's "fantastic" supporters.

The club has announced a new cut-price ticket offer for Aitor Karanka's first home game against Bolton at the Riverside tomorrow week (3pm).

The Spaniard was officially appointed as Tony Mowbray's replacement on Wednesday and his arrival seems to have gone down well with the Boro fans who haven't had much to cheer over the past year.

Gibson has been heartened by the way the fans have conducted themselves, both home and away.

"It has been a difficult time but the people who have come to see us have been fantastic," he told the Gazette.

"The support we've had from the fans encourages everyone.

It encourages me and I do hope we've turned the corner for them.

"In very difficult financial times they've really supported the club and have given all of us at the club the heart to move forward and I hope this is the turning point. …
