BITS Golf Club junior Harry Shuttleworth has a swag of trophies to add to the mantelpiece after a stellar year on the Central Queensland circuit, and hopes that this weekend will see him continue those results at a club level.

The 13-year-old was thrilled to be named this year's Golf CQ Junior Golfer of the Year for 13-hole gross, 13-hole open champion and the Greg Norman 13-hole gross points winner.

"I didn't really expect it. You wait until the last open of the year to find out," Harry said, although he pointed out that his father Stephen, who is the junior co-ordinator at BITS, had been paying attention to his progress.

The golf season runs from February to November and in that time points were accumulated at various CQ junior opens towards the trophies.

Harry had won five opens over the year, come close to victory another couple of times and won every event for the Greg Norman Award.

It's clear the youngster with an impressive drive, who managed 46 for 9 just last weekend, has come a long way since being introduced to the sport five years ago. …
