Less-Than-Crisp CQ Start Looms

BRENT Crisp is staying positive.

The Rockhampton Leagues Club Capras five-eighth is set to go under the knife and could miss the first few rounds of the 2014 Queensland Intrust Super Cup season.

The former Canterbury Bulldog was sidelined with a season-ending ankle injury when the Capras clashed with Souths Logan Magpies in Gladstone in August

"It's been a slow process," Crisp said.

"It (his ankle) was coming along fairly quick earlier on and now it's just slowing up."

Crisp visited a specialist yesterday morning to determine whether he would need surgery on the injury and while the verdict meant he would miss the pre-season, he was still confident of pulling on the Central Queensland colours. "I'll definitely have the jersey on this season," he said.

"If I get surgery now, it doesn't eat into my rehab throughout the pre-season, it gives me more time to train and get fit but if I take the longer process, it will eat into my season and make it an uphill battle all year. …
