LEON Roberts and the committee at the Emerald Jockey Club certainly turned it on for the 2013 edition of the Emerald 100.

Fashionistas aplenty and more importantly a great day of racing.

The rich $22000 Ensham Handicap 3YO Handicap was taken out by Mackay trainer Lyle Wright with his runner, Tycoon Annie, ridden by David Hayse starting the day's seven race card with a win.

Tycoon Annie held off the challenge of the Mary Hassam-trained $4.80 Centrefold Babe by a neck. The most impressive effort of the day came from Last Pardee, ridden by Shane Egan in the Emerald Carpet Court 1000m Handicap.

Hailing from the powerful Barcaldine stable of Todd Austin, Last Pardee jumped from a wide alley, scooted through, found the rails and never looked in doubt.

Last Pardee bolted in by 3.5 lengths thanks to a gem of a ride from the young apprentice.

In the $15000 CQ News/Hot FM 1200m Open Handicap, bookmakers got some of it back when the Charlotte Wall trained $11 Guns, ridden by Leslie Tilley, saluted in a driving finish. …
