Cummings Gets Two Chances to Match His Old Man's Feat

ANTHONY Cummings has lived in the shadow of his legendary father, Bart, for all of his training career, but gets the chance tomorrow to match him in at least one feat.

After winning the Victoria Derby last year with outsider Fiveandahalfstar, Anthony can become the first since his father to train consecutive winners of the blue riband Group One classic for three-year-olds.

Bart achieved the feat with Dayana and Taj Rossi in 1972 and '73, respectively.

Anthony is sending around Drago and Thunder Fantasy.

One of the early favourites for the race, Drago has drifted out to $35 with TattsBet after a disappointing seventh behind Complacent in the Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on October 12 and a fifth behind Savvy Nature in last Saturday's Mitchelton Wines Vase (2050m) at Moonee Valley.

Cummings said riding the colt forward in that race did not suit.

"Drago was ridden a little bit upside down last time and in the circumstances I thought that he did a good job," he told Through Media. …
