WHILE the Sunshine Coast Scorchers seem to have revitalised their batting this season, it is still the side's bowlers who lead the way statistically. Sam Gardiner is the third-highest wicket-taker midway through the season (20 wickets at 14.20) and fellow spinner Alecz Day is the sixth (19 at 18.37).

Mariner will miss mentor

SUNSHINE Coast product and Central Coast defender Zac Anderson will miss coach Graham Arnold more than most. Arnold has left the Mariners to take the helm of J-League club Vegalta Sendai. The coach and the player struck up a relationship after Anderson impressed Arnold while playing for the Australian under-21 team against Iraq in 2011. When Gold Coast United folded and Anderson was left without a club after the 2011-2012 season, Arnold was quick to pounce and they forged a good rapport at Gosford.
