What was your original career choice? Sports Journalism - my first job after uni was at News Limited in Sydney before heading home to the local newspaper in Mackay for two years. I then spent 13 years at Seven Local News, the last nine of those here on the Sunshine Coast. I'm still a huge sports fan.

Your favourite place in the world and why? I would have to say Rome. The history, architecture and culture, not to mention the food and wine, blew my mind when we visited there for my wife Natalie's 40th. Its was awesome! I would love to live there for a year or two later in life.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years time? Still enjoying real estate with the McGrath brand dominating on the Coast.

First sale? It was a triplex unit in Blanck St, Maroochydore. I actually sold it on my birthday in my sixth week of real estate, I was stoked!

Most memorable sale? Wow, that's hard because every sale has its own unique story which is why this job is so interesting. Having said that, a $2.1m sale under the hammer for a beautiful acreage property at Diddillibah was a great result for my sellers and very exciting.

Where did you grow up and your clearest childhood memory? I grew up on a sugar cane farm about half an hour north of Mackay, so many great memories with my brothers running wild. There's nothing better than growing up in the country.

Which celebrity do you resonate with and why? Steve Waugh, he wasn't the most naturally talented player but he beat everyone else with focus, determination and the will to win. …
