Top Talents Invited to Train Alongside Reds

TWO of Downs rugby's rising stars have scored an off-season bonus with an invitation to train with the Queensland Reds.

Darling Downs and Queensland Country representatives Paul Maguire and Sam Hogarth will spend a week with the Reds organisation from November 18.

Newly appointed Downs coach Rob Johnston said the Reds gesture provides the players with a taste of rugby at the highest level while producing a valuable spin-off for the Darling Downs.

"Reds coach Richard Graham contacted us at Downs Rugby asking about the possibility of inviting two of our players to train with them for a week," Johnston said.

"Naturally we are all for it. It will be a whole new experience for Sam and Paul and you never know what this might mean for them longer term.

Hogarth - a backrow forward - was a member of this season's Queensland Country Heelers squad which defeated New South Wales Country in Newcastle in a British Lions match curtain-raiser. …
