Cheap Filly Pays Her Way after Maiden Win at Dalby

HAVING a keen eye for a cheap horse produced a winning pay day yesterday when former New South Wales filly Feytalistic broke through at Bunya Park for her first race victory.

The Oratorio four-year-old found the winner's stall at race start number four for apprentice Ruby Ride in the Hi Chem Paint & Dalby Home Hardware Plate (1400m).

Feytalistic ($2.40 fav) pocketed more than triple her purchase price for connections when she claimed the $6500 first prize cheque with a 3/4 length win over Writtenintherain ($3.20).

Winning trainer Ben Currie said the bargain buy mare was discovered for sale on the internet by stable employee Anthony Stephens.

"She was a $2000 buy basically bought off the internet, and I have to give Anthony (Stephens) all the credit for coming up with her," Currie said. "Anthony and I race Tiger Tales who we bought as a tried horse but he did all the work himself finding this filly. …
