ASHINGTON RAOB defeated Wharton Arms 4-2 in the only Division One game played this week.

The goalscorers were former Durham cricketer Ben Harmison, Shaun Gibson, Darren Reay and Mark Race.

The Wharton responses came from Joe Moscrop and Scott Hulme.

Ashington RAOB are now joint top of the division with Amble Tavern - but they have a vastly inferior goal difference which could prove telling as the season progresses.

In the only Division Two match, North End Trap moved to the top of Division Two with a 15-1 win over Alnmouth Argyle thanks to hat-tricks from Kevin Bell, Marc Nixon and Sean Anderson.

There was also a brace from Jack Small and single strikes from Josh Baston, Luke Baston, Neil Wallace and Marc Mavin. Second-placed East Chevington are a point behind with two games in hand on North End.

Amble Tavern progressed to the second round of the Lewin Cup after a second-leg 7-0 victory over Riverside Lodge.

Brad Wake helped himslf to a hat-trick, Ross Gair grabbed a brace and efforts from Liam Brooks and Jayden Hindhaugh rounded off a good day for Amble. …
