IT was lovely to see Fiona Phillips at the MIND Media Press Awards on Monday. I don't see that much of her these days but she is one of the loveliest people in showbusiness.

We tend to bump into each other at mental health functions as she is a campaigner and we both do as much as we can to breakdown the stigma attached to mental illness. As well as holding down a career, being a TV presenter, journalist and mum-of-two, Fiona nursed both parents through Alzheimer's.

After being very dissatisfied with the care her father received, she has constantly campaigned for more funding and support for Alzheimer's sufferers and their families and has made a huge difference in raising awareness of this cruel condition.

She's a brilliant columnist, staunch Labour supporter, patron of the Prince Of Wales Trust and a lifelong Chelsea fan. Well she has to have one flaw.

DO any of you older readers remember the film Gypsy where Baby Louise is auditioning for a kiddies' show and her mother Rose shouts out "Sing out Louise" making her the archetypical pushy stage mum? …
