PLANS to impose the GST on moveable home estates will hit the Sunshine Coast's elderly and poorest residents living in low-cost housing estates hardest.

Some fear if the draft ruling by the Australian Tax Office is approved, it will force them out of their home.

The Australian Tax Office introduced the draft ruling suggesting the tax should also be introduced for moveable homes on commercial residential premises.

Member for Fisher Mal Brough estimated it could affect about 32 retirement, over 50s and low-cost housing estates on the Sunshine Coast.

He has urged all residents to make submissions to the Australian Tax Office highlighting their concerns before December 20.

If the ATO stands by its draft ruling, it will be up to parliament to approve a change.

Ken Guy, the president of Sunstone Gardens Home Owners has written to Mr Brough highlighting the impact the cost would have on pensioners living in the estate. …
