THIS Christmas shoppers in Selfridges will be able to buy mini-bottles of champagne from a new vending machine.

The world's first champagne vending machine will dispense Moet & Chandon for [pounds sterling]17.99.

Customer Denise Hunter, 42, searched out the Oxford Street shop's new gadget after reading about it online. She said: "The idea of champagne in a vending machine is a lovely idea but it would be better if it was chilled.

"We won't be drinking it though; I'll just keep it on my cupboard at home because it's so pretty."

Stocked with 350 art deco-inspired crystal minis, the dispenser has a golden arm to select each bottle and deliver it into the bottom window once the operating button -- in the style of the red Moet seal -- is pushed.

It's not quite the same as putting your coins in the slot and watching a can crash to the floor, however, as customers must then collect their champagne and pay at the checkout. …
