Humbled Parnaby Hails Team Effort as He Receives Uni Honour

THE HEAD of Boro's Dream Factory has been honoured by Teesside University.

Dave Parnaby, the director of the club's Academy for 16 successful years, declared himself "delighted and humbled" after receiving an honorary degree.

But modest Parnaby insisted the award was a reflection of the work of the whole Academy set up rather than a personal accolade.

"It is a great honour," said Parnaby. "But what has been recognised is not just my work but that of everyone at the Academy.

"There is a group of very good people who work very hard to make the Academy a success.

"There are people who work in recruitment, sports science, medical, admin, coaching, education... it is a good working environment staffed by good people and with a proud record of success.

"And there is also the support from above. Steve Gibson has a very clear vision about what the Academy is about and he has never wavered in that.

"We take talented young people in Teesside and give them the tools to succeed in the world of professional football. …
