HANDMADE Christmas decorations make it easy to get into the festive season spirit without spending a lot of money.

Last week, I spotted little Scrabble letter ornaments in an upmarket boutique.

I loved the idea but not the price tag, so I decided to try my hand at making them at home.

The end result looks great and it was a simple, quick and super-cheap project.

Scrabble letter tiles are a perfect ingredient for do-it-yourself projects.

I bought a giant bag of them from the online website Ebay.

I paid $35 for 700 pieces from the United States.

1. You can choose to spell out any Christmas words you like.

I went with joy, noel, Santa and Rudolph.

Once you have all the tile letters in order -- turn them face down on a flat surface.

2. For the next step, it is handy to have a ruler nearby to help keep the tiles straight while crafting.

Apply a dot of Weldbond on the back of each tile.
